These illustrations are from a book by Philip Henry Gosse (1810–1888), the literal inventor of the (saltwater) aquarium. The book, titled A naturalist’s rambles on the Devonshire coast, is available for download at the Biodiversity Heritage Library. It was published in London in 1853.
